The Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation provided CHI with a $2,500 grant for improvements to a residence in Poughkeepsie housing 25 homeless or formerly-homeless men. The grant from Ulster Savings complements a larger grant CHI received for the project from Hudson River Housing in 2013 under New York State’s Main Street Program.
The restoration of the CHI men’s residence contributes to the City of Poughkeepsie’s efforts to revitalize its Main Street corridor and, in particular, the White Cherry Rose Redevelopment Area. The project includes rebuilding of the front porch and new siding, which has already been completed. The property will also receive a new driveway and upgrades to the landscape.
MaryRose Warcholak and Connie Harkrin from the Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation presented the grant to Alexander Roberts, CHI’s executive director, at a reception in Kingston on October 22.
