CHI has an exciting new dish on its menu of homebuyer education courses: an online program for first-time buyers provided by eHome America. This comprehensive online program is designed for those who need an education certificate to qualify for a mortgage for first-time homebuyers. The program can be completed at your own pace, and quizzes are given throughout to ensure understanding. There is a $99 fee for the eHome America course.

Those interested in completing the eHome Homebuyer Education Program are required to first submit a Customer Intake Form to CHI. Then, prospective students can register.

In order to receive a housing education certificate, students must complete the eHome program and also attend a one-on-one counseling session with a CHI instructor.

All of CHI’s homebuyer education courses — including First Home, Fast Track™, the First Home Club and eHome — are designed to provide first-time homebuyers with the information they need to make informed buying decisions. Topics include:

  • Assessment of Homeownership Readiness
  • Budgeting & Credit
  • Financing a Home
  • Shopping for a Home
  • Maintaining a Home
  • Managing Homeownership Finances

Any prospective first-time homebuyer interested in receiving a grant of up to $25,000 for down-payment and rehabilitation assistance under CHI’s Renters into Owners Program must first complete one of these comprehensive buyer-education courses, or a similar program offered by another qualified housing agency.
