You are the foundation upon which CHI’s mission stands, as we work together to assist families and individuals impacted by homelessness and to enable low-to-moderate income families to become homeowners.
With your support, CHI has provided housing services to over 5,000 individuals this year. We serve over 1,000 people each night, providing basic needs to families in crisis, from emergency shelter to permanent housing to home buyer counseling and grant assistance.
In 2018, we began an expansion of programs aimed at giving homeless heads of household the skills to make it on their own: a growing education program with GED classes, career workshops and connections to certifications, a flourishing Resource Center providing job and life skills, parenting classes, health workshops, art and yoga to homeless adults, and increased child care and recreational activities to engage our youth and set them up for success.
Additionally, in an area where affordability is a major impediment to buying a home, CHI helps clients improve credit scores and increase savings while administering $1 million in grants annually from New York State for down payment assistance to first-time home buyers. Over 60 families purchased their first home this year because of you.
Please consider a tax-deductible gift to CHI’s annual appeal. Your support provides field trips for homeless children, gift cards for families to buy basic hygiene items, educational materials for the single parent who lacks a high school diploma, and financial counseling for a young adult interested in buying her first home. Without you, these things don’t happen.
On behalf of CHI’s Board of Directors, staff, and most especially clients, thank you for your consideration and kindness.
