Deborah Post’s commitment to community improvement is demonstrated by over 20 years of work experience in the field of community and economic development, affordable housing development and planning. Her career has spanned the non profit, public and private sectors.
Ms. Post joined CHI as Director of Housing Finance in 2009. She is responsible for the planning, financing and implementation of the organization’s various development initiatives, including rehabilitation of existing CHI properties and new construction of affordable and workforce housing projects. Ms. Post is also responsible for CHI’s Housing Counseling Department, which includes CHI’s foreclosure prevention counseling program and homeownership education, counseling, and grants program. Ms. Post manages CHI’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program in Nassau County, overseeing property selection, acquisition, rehabilitation, marketing, and sales of properties funded through the program.
Prior to joining CHI, Ms. Post worked as Vice President for Wilder Balter Partners, Inc., an affordable and market-rate residential real estate development firm located in Westchester County, NY. Ms. Post managed all aspects of the real estate development process and worked on development projects that included multi-family, affordable rentals and moderate rate condominiums for seniors. During her tenure at Wilder Balter Partners, Ms. Post was responsible for the development of over 460 units of affordable and moderate rate housing in Westchester, Suffolk, and Putnam County.
In the 1990’s, Ms. Post served as the Director of Economic Development and the Deputy Director of Planning for the City of Peekskill. She also served as the Assistant Director of the Peekskill Industrial Development Agency. Ms. Post administered the City of Peekskill’s annual $500,000 Community Development Block Grant Program and was responsible for development, implementation and management of infrastructure improvement and commercial revitalization projects as well as local residential and commercial rehabilitation loan and grant programs. While with the City of Peekskill, the successful Downtown Artist Lofts Program was initiated and over 500,000 square feet of light industrial development was completed at Peekskill’s Charles Point Industrial Park.
Ms. Post graduated from the Yale School of Management with a Masters in Business Administration/Masters in Public and Private Management. Ms. Post also holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Ms. Post currently holds the position of Secretary on the Peekskill Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors. She has served as a member of the First Hebrew Board of Education and has been an active volunteer with the Peekskill School District, co-chairing the community-based committee that spearheaded the approval of a $59 million bond referendum to build a new state of the art Peekskill Middle School. The doors of the new PKMS opened in September 2009. Ms. Post has served as the President of the Hillcrest School PTO and as an officer of the Peekskill PTO Council.
